20th Annual Festival de Vida y Muerte at Xcaret
Xcaret's Festival of Life and Death Traditions reaches its 20th edition with four evenings of Día de Muertos celebration, and this year Guanajuato is the featured guest state.
Guanajuato as guest state
Each year the festival invites one Mexican state to share its culture. This time Guanajuato brings its music, regional food, folk art and legends to the Riviera Maya. Traditional music from the Yucatán Peninsula also appears on the program, so the two regions share the stage.
A park full of altars and stages
During the festival, altars and offerings are set up throughout the park. They sit alongside theater, dance, concerts, exhibitions, workshops and activities for families. The featured performances include The Opera Locos, The Mummy and the Serpent and The Catrina’s Bell Tower. Folkloric dance and huapango are also on the bill.
Four evenings
The festival runs from Friday, October 30 through Monday, November 2. Activities begin at 4 PM each day.
