The star dish
Mukbil pollo, also called pib, is a large Yucatecan tamal. It is made with corn masa and filled with seasoned chicken and pork.
Rooted in Hanal Pixán
The tamal is wrapped in banana leaves and traditionally cooked underground. Families prepare it during Hanal Pixán to honor and remember loved ones who have died.
